Turbo Cooker vs. Air Fryer

What is a air fryer?

Air fryers are essentially compact convection ovens. They can seamingly "fry" food with very hot air and a small amount of oil.

The limited amount of oil, produces a end result that contains less fat than it would when cooked with conventional pan frying or deep frying methods.

How a Turbo Cooker compares:

  • - Instead of dry heat being circulated, Turbo Cookers create a convection process with steam.
  • -Steam is moisture so it will render more tender results.
  • - Steam permeates the pours of the food and infuses the seasoning, marinate, rub or condiment that is on the food, into the pours, creating more flavorful results.
  • -Steam is ambient unlike forced circulating dry heat/air.
  • - Steam circulates and penetrates all around food, so you are not limited to the amount of food you can put in the base or on the steam rack.
  • - Steam cooks faster than dry heat, a Turbo Cooker can cook up to 50% faster.
  • - You can cook multiple different foods with different tastes all at the same time in a Turbo.
  • -- A Turbo cooker can be used for more than just frying.

In a air fryer you would fry chicken nuggets in the Turbo you SteamFry™ them.

  • .o Bake versus SteamBake™
  • .o Grill versus SteamGrill™

What can’t a Turbo do better

  • - In an air fryer you can cook piled up French fries, in the Turbo you can cook as many as you can put on the base.

Air Fryer Explained

Basic Features

The convection fan(s) in an air fryer circulate hot air around the foods in the basket, cooking them quicker than traditional baking and crisping up the outermost layer.

Air fryers can reach high temperatures in a relatively short amount of time.

Air fryers are good at cooking:

  • Vegetables essentially anything that roasts on a baking sheet.
  • Breaded chicken, battered chicken, bacon, burgers hot dogs
  • Frozen nuggets, mozzarella sticks, onion rings French fries
  • Baked goods such as donuts, fritters and funnel cake.

Cooking Advantages

They don’t require the use of large pots of oil, cleanup is usually easier, although cleaning an air fryer is its own process.

An air fryer does not eliminate oil entirely from the cooking but it does use significantly less than the alternatives.

For recipes that do call for oil, you’ll typically be using tablespoons instead of cups to achieve that perfect fry.

Available Upgrades

The main upgrade would be multiple fans and advanced electronic panel (more setings).

Issues

Air fryers needs time to come to temperature before you use it.

Overloading your air fryer will not produce the best results.

Adding too much food to the air fryer may make your meal soggy or unevenly cooked and it will increase the time needed for your food to fully cook.

Food particles can get lodged in the nooks and crannies of air fryers, building up over time and causing issues.

What is SteamCooking™

SteamCooking™ is the cooking technology/cooking technique that was developed in conjunction with Turbo Cooking. SteamCooking™ is the simultaneous combination of traditional cooking techniques incorporated with the use of steam.
