Turbo Cooker vs. Steamer
What is a Steamer?
There are two types of steamers on the market. Multi-level steamers used for steaming only and rice cookers.

Rice Cookers come in two types, units that only cook rice and rice cookers that have a steamer insert so you can make rice and steam on top of the cooking rice.

How a Turbo Cooker compares:
It is possible to compare how a Turbo Cooker™ compares to both a steamer and a rice cooker together in one explanation.
Rice cookers are geared primarily for rice but can be used for other limited tasks.
A Turbo Cooker makes sticky or fluffy rice and can outperform all the other functions that a rice cooker can.
The same is true of a steamer or rice cooker with steamer.
In a rice cooker or steamer, you cannot:
- - Cook meat of any consequence.
- - Cannot brown.
- - Infuse flavors into food like you can in a Turbo™.
- - Cook very different food without any flavor exchange
In a rice cooker or steamer, you do not have:
- - Convection steam rotation.
- - Increased cooking efficiency.
- - Reduction in cooking time.
- - A vapor barrier between the cooking chambers.
In an steamer or ontop of a rice cooker you steam vegetables in the Turbo you SteamCook™ them
What can’t a Turbo do better?
The only thing you cannot do as easily in a Turbo Cooker™ is put rice in, set a dial and walk away.
A rice cooker will cook and turn off (or set automatically to keep warm), Rice comes out as good but has 2 steps more.
Steamer Rice Cookers Explained
Basic Features
An electric steamer follows the same concept as the steam basket, but it’s a standalone appliance that is designed to do the work for you.
You add the water in the base and vegetables on steam insert and then select the appropriate setting available on your appliance.
In a rice cooker water is placed in the basin, the basin is placed into the container, switch the unit on and then the heating element in the container makes the water boil.
The rice absorbs the boiling water. Steam is stoped from escaping by a outer lid.
Steamers and rice cookers are good at cooking:
- •Steamers are ideally used for steaming vegetables
-
•Rice cookers do more than just rice such as:
- -Cook chicken with your rice and do jambalaya
- -Lentils, stewed apples or mac and cheese
- -Oats, Oatmeal & Polenta
- -Quinoa & other grains
Cooking Advantages
Steamers are good at compartmentalizing what you want to cook and then stack and cook them all at the same time.
Rice cookers let you fill the cooker, turn it on and the cooker does the cooking without needing any attention.
Available Upgrades
There are many different types of steamers and rice cookers.
Higher end units have more setting and programing possibilities.
Issues
There are not many issues with steamers or rice cookers aside that they take a lot of space if you don’t use them often.
What is SteamCooking™
SteamCooking™ is the cooking technology/cooking technique that was developed in conjunction with Turbo Cooking. SteamCooking™ is the simultaneous combination of traditional cooking techniques incorporated with the use of steam.
